My Experience with the Nigerian police
One fateful day i was on my way to pick up my clearance letter from my PPA, when i got down at the bustop there was a police check point and some officers were there carrying out their duty, as i passed one of them called out "corper " and I replied well done sir and waved at them....
When i finished from my PPA about an hour later, i had walked quite a distance when the weather changed suddenly, heavy breeze started blowing as i looked around there was no shade anywhere in sight so i started running towards the bustop "God help me " i prayed silently; i felt the first heavy drop of rain on my head, and other drops followed, with the heavy rain drops i was getting wet pretty fast i was closer to the bus stop now and the police officers were rushing to their patrol van when one of them saw me and said "corper enter" i did not have much of a choice so i entered.
I was sitting inside jeje trying to catch my breathe when two other officers came in one from the left side and a female officer came in from the right side they all had guns then my heart skipped a bit, then two other officers sat at the back of the van we were waiting for the rain to stop but it only got worse the road was getting flooded the officer in front told the driver "let's move" in my mind "to where ?"
Sitting in the middle of police officers in a police van i felt like a culprit instantly then i started to imagine stupid things like " what if these people take me to the station and say am under arrest" all the negative things i have heard about them filled my head i was still thinking when i heard "corper you dey fear ?" No o i replied instantly forming bold. When we got to the cross road the officer in front turned corper our station dey that side pointing to the left i told them where i was going and suprisingly they went my way not only that they dropped me at my destination under a shade. Thank you very much i said repeatedly
"corper take care of yourself", i stood there and waved at them until they were out of sight.
This act of kindness by the Nigeria police force has left me with a different perception.
