THE WEDDING ( Episode 8 )

That weekend Nike went to the market and bought the things she needed and other items she noticed he was lacking the day she was visited; Kunle was waiting when she got back and hurriedly entered the kitchen to prepare his meal and by the she was done with cooking and dishing the meal ,she had already lost her appetite so she sat with him while he ate, the best part for Nike was when Kunle requested for more and still finished everything; after cleaning up she joined him in the sitting-room where he was on the couch.

“darling” Kunle had become extra nice and more romantic since their makeup and Nike was enjoying every bit of it
I must confess you are  a great cook.
Nike and kunle got more intimate, she was not feeling lonely anymore; though he lost his temper on several occasions over trivial issues, with this she tried to avoid it by letting him have his way. When Nike told him that Henry would be coming back on the first week of December kunle lost his peace, he did not want to share her attention with anyone, he knew that Henry had a strong influence over her; when she broke the news to him the excitement on her face disgusted him but he pretended about it and kept his cool.
On the first of December Nike's intercom rang and it was a call from her secretary informing her of a package that just arrived from a delivery man; when she got down it was Kunle standing at the reception of her office with a bunch of beautiful flower, with card on it with the inscription boldly written on it “WILL YOU MARRY ME?”
She had been in other relationships but none had gotten to an engagement point and now she thought to herself, a guy  she had barely known for three months was asking her to marry him; Nike was speechless, tears welled up in her eyes as she smiled  and cried ;will you marry me? kunle asked
I can't believe this she managed to mutter.
just say yes baby
yes, yes, yes i will marry you Kunle.
Most of her colleagues that had gathered started clapping when he placed the ring on her finger; Bisola spread the news like wild fire and those who missed the scene got the full detail and congratulations were in order. Nike’s joy knew no bound for the remaining working hours she could hardly concentrate, she wanted to show her mum and sister the ring she did not want to tell them over the phone but she could wait to tell henry so she called him immediately.
For real? Henry exclaimed
Yes, he proposed to me today, I couldn’t believe it, it was a big surprise to me. Just when I least expect; Henry you know me well and what I have been through.
Yes I do and that is why I am happy for you; you know what?
What?
 We will celebrate when I come back the three of us, I should be in Lagos by weekend.

When Nike told Kunle what Henry said about the three of them celebrating, she thought he would be happy about it but he wasn’t rather he took it the other way round.
What does this guy really want from you? He asked
Nothing of course, we are just friends and you know that.
Please tell that lie to someone else, do you really think am a fool? I know that the both of you are in an open relationship
Nike was shocked and this made her drop her jaw but kunle did not mind the shock on her face and continued.
Listen to me I am no fool and am sick and tired of acting like one; it is high time you chose between me and him; I wonder what you will be doing with such irresponsible man.
Did you just call Henry irresponsible?
Yes, I did. Why would a man of his age still be unmarried?
Kunle please will stop calling him names she pleaded
There you go again defending your partner in crime as usual.
Have you forgotten so soon that he was the pioneer of this relationship in the first place? Is this what you have to say about a guy who has done you no harm in anyway?
Yeah that’s because he thought I was a dumb guy; enough of this argument am not here to debate with you Nike all I am saying is that you must end that relationship with him and if you refuse I guess we both know what that means.
When Henry came back to Nigeria he called Nikky but she was sounding cold towards him, Nikky I don’t like the tone of your voice; what is wrong with you?
Nothing is wrong with me I have just been too busy with office work; She did not want to tell him the kind of misunderstanding his name causes in her relationship with her fiancé.
All efforts for henry to reach Nikky or Kunle proved abortive, when he ran into kemi at the shopping mall one weekend he asked her about Nikky’s welfare.
She’s fine.
Why has she not been answering my calls, the last time I spoke to her she was sounding cold towards me; but if you say she’s fine then that’s okay.
Yeah, she’s fine I guess she has been busy with work; how long will you be staying? kemi asked trying to change the subject.
Henry was not the only one Nikky was avoiding but kemi did not want to talk about it, after Kunle proposed to her things took a new turn in nikky’s life; she spent a better time with him which was not wrong but there was something wrong with Nikky but she was not saying anything about it. Mrs. Adams was too carried away with the fact that her daughter was engaged that she did not see anything wrong at all.
