BROKEN (LAST EPISODE)

Joy's eyes were swollen from crying as she narrated her ordeal to her friend Lizzy.
Liz... it nearly a month since i told Femi about the pregnancy, he has not called or even texted me since then and every attempt to reach him has proved abortive.

 I am sure he's still trying to wrap his head around it he will call you very soon. Liz tried to reassure her, ...  please stop punishing yourself.

Liz, i just want to die.

I reject it for you. Do you know whatyou are saying at all

I know o... Liz i know what am sa...ying.
(she broke down again crying the more.)
He called me.
Who called you ? I thought you said you've not heard from Femi?
It is not Femi that called o... she managed to say through her tears
Joy please talk to me, who called you?

Joy please calm down and talk to me.

He.. said he came back to marry me.

Who said he came back to marry you.

(Joy was sobbing uncontrollably now, Richy like he was fondly called was her one true love.)
Richy and Joy met and started dating from their university days, everybody who knew them was certain that they would make a good couple even after Richy graduated he would visit Joy in school at every opportunity he had to travel, distance was no barrier for them they were happy.
Richy never hesitated to assist in any way he could although he was not earning much at the time. Everything was fine and almost perfect until Richy started making plans to go abroad, Joy had heard too many stories about people who went abroad and got married and never returned home she didn't want to loose Richy too any of those white ladies. It took Richy a while to convince her and when he did he had to make a lot of promises.

"My love no matter how far away i am you will always be in my heart, i love you too much to forget all that we have shared. I will be in touch i promised."

Abroad was not a bed of roses like he thought, true to his word, he was in touch with her when he travelled but after six months things became really tough for him he could barely cope. When he told Joy about his plans to marry a white lady to ease his suffering she cried and pleaded but he reassured her that it would not change anything between them,  unfortunately things changed the white lady became very possessive and would threaten to report him to authorities he tried to explain to Joy that his calls would not be frequent as before she went berserk gradually things changed, Joy became unhappy and they spent the little time they had on fight and arguments this would cause a breach in communication for a long time.
Richy could not wait to get his papers so he could come back and marry the love of his life; finally when got his papers a few weeks ago he thought of calling Joy but decided to call her when he arrived Nigeria.

Hello my love...
She would not mistake his voice for anything in the world .

He...he... llo  Ri..chy. she stammered

Yes baby it's me, am back.
Wh..en did you return? She managed to ask

Last night baby. Where are you? I can't wait to see you.
Baby i just want to make up for those years i wasted.
My whole life has been incomplete without you, baby please marry me

Joy dropped the call immediately ... everything around her was spinning.

Liz, i feel like committing suicide.

My life is a total mess right now.
If only i was patient all these wouldn't have happened,
if only i waited a little bit more.
If only i held on to Richy's promise, i won't be in this mess right now.
How i wish i waited.
If... if... if only.....she broke down in tears.
If someone told me that i would end up like this i won't believe.
Liz... Please tell me this is a dream, please  wake me up.
What i greatly feared has come upon me.

Liz, how do i raise my head again.
Ah! My plans failed me, it boomeranged.
I thought getting pregnant would make Femi love me.
Now i know better, i have learnt the hard way

When all attempts to see  Joy failed Richy returned back the states and vowed never to come back to Nigeria and opened his heart to love again.

Femi and Pat never got back together,  after the break up with Femi she moved to the south where she met and fell in love with a German man,  they got married and lived happily ever after
